We had the opportunity to taste 40 wines from various wineries in Ontario ... gerwerstraminers, reislings, chardonnays, merlots, pinot noirs, sparklings, ice wines, etc. We tried most of them except for the chardonays (we're not big fans of chardonnays). We like gertz and reislings the best.
Our top four favs (in no particular order) were:
- Mike Weir Estate Winery - Cabernet Merlot 2004
- Pillitteri Estates Winery - Gerwiztraminer Fusion 2004
- Jackson Triggs Niagara Estate Winery - Proprieters' Reserve Sparkling 2004
- Flat Rock Cellars - Twisted 2005

I need to visit Ontario, because it sounds like the whole place rocks! Wow - that sounds like so much fun, I haven't done a wine tasting for years...and I do mean years! Last place was a German Winery down south. (Sigh...and a look of nostalgia)
I don't like Chardonnay either, for the most part. Too oak-y for me. I have heard of some un-oaked Chards. but that sounds weird to me!
Looks like my kind of evening there! :-)
I've never been a big fan of wine or champagne. Although, there was one I had, and it was good. Can't remember what it was.
