Thanksgiving weekend

Gord, KC and I spent the weekend with his parents, north of Belleville (about a 2.5 hour drive NE of Toronto). We left yesterday afternoon and got back this afternoon.

Minnie (Gord's mom) and Keith (Gord's step dad) live on a farm (though they rent the land out to farmers now). Keith was born and raised there and it has been in his family for generations.

Yesterday was Minnie's birthday. We also celebrated Thanksgiving with the family (they all live in the same area) ...

  • Minnie
  • Keith
  • Judy (Gord's sister)
  • Doug (Judy's husband)
  • Kyle and Kerrie (Judy and Doug's son and daughter-in-law)
  • Iris (Minnie's sister)
Minnie put together a fabulous supper ... turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, mashed turnips, beets, peas, green beans, carrots, gravy, pickles, pumpkin pie and apple pie.

Their "backyard"

There was a beautiful sunset last night

One of the old barns (they don't use it anymore)

Gord, Minnie and Judy

Keith collects antique clocks and has a lot of them.
When the hour strikes, you know what time it is
because about five clocks chime the hour.

Gord brought his fencing gear down to show
Minnie and Keith and Minnie checked out his mask.

Keith and Snowflake

Here in Toronto, I'm used to the sounds of sirens and streetcars ... I don't notice them. It's different at Minnie and Keith's. Just after midnight I woke up to the sounds of wolves howling in the distance. This morning, it was to cows on a neighbouring farm.

It sounds like a lovely weekend. It is very interesting that your Thanksgiving Dinner is so similar to our Thanksgiving meal here in the states...
And celebrating a Birthday, too...Congratulations to everyone!
Beautiful pictures, Teena...

Happy Thanksgiving. I'm just putting together my post too.

I'm so jealous of that backyard!! It rained on us over here in Manitoba. BOO. LOL

Glad you had a good time!
