We've got ink!

Gord and I got tattoos this afternoon. We went to Black Line Studio, a place we walk by every day to work.

Gord went first and got his initials (GKJ). It's a logo he's been using since he was a teen.

Then it was my turn. I've always been attracted to sunflowers ... it seems like such a happy flower! A sunflower's meaning differs from culture to culture. To some, the sunflower promises power, warmth and nourishment. To others, the sunflower's turning as it follows the sun symbolizes deep loyalty and constancy.

Done!

I don't think there's anything on this planet that more trumpets life that the sunflower. For me, that's because of the reason behind its name. Not because it looks like the sun but because it follows the sun. During the course of the day, the head tracks the journey of the sun across the sky. A satellite dish for sunshine. Wherever light is, no matter how weak, these flowers will find it. And that's such an admirable thing. And such a lesson in life. Chris (Helen Mirren), Calendar Girls

  2. Nice Ink,

I have a very large tattoo on my back.
    I got it when I was 35.
Don't mention it on my blog cuz my parents dont know.
It is a custom design... by me.
I cannot believe I have been able to keep it secret for over 8 yrs.

  3. Hey Teena,

Awesome!!! You never fail to blow me away. I love your too's and will submit myself to your wise counsel on my 40th b-day (some time out yet) for the lizard (gecko) I've always wanted. (Not to be confused with the blue chip I once thought I would have to brand myself with!) ;)

    Cheers,
    Liz

  6. Dawn: Black Line is just east of King W/Bathurst. I'd go back ... it was very funky and clean. They do piercings too. I was soooo tempted to get my nose pierced.

Lynn: Don't worry, I won't tell :) Gord doesn't plan on telling him mom either. Hard to believe he's 52! Ha! Should make for some interesting conversation when we visit them at Christmas. Ha!

Liz: I remember the talks we had of getting a blue chip on our butts. Good thing we didn't, eh? Did you know that Deb has two now?

Lisa: Thanks :) I'm pleased. When are you getting another one??!! :)

Izzy: Yep, it hurt. More than the one on my shoulder. Probably cuz it was so close to bones (rather than flesh). But an hour of pain for a lifetime of enjoyment was worth it! Gord's already planning for three more!!!
