From www.mirvish.com ~ From Olivier Award-winning playwright Ben Elton and QUEEN's Brian May and Roger Taylor! The world-wide smash-hit musical in its Canadian premiere!
In a future world - where globalisation is complete - we are all safe, happy, homogenised consumers. One giant corporation tells us what to buy, what to wear, what to believe, how to live, what to think ... but deep beneath the gleaming cities, there are rebels who remember the time they call The Rhapsody ... and make their own forbidden music.
What an awesome show! It's in my top five musicals of all time!
The guy playing Figgy had a great voice! I look forward to seeing him in other things.
There were lots of fun references to Canada and Toronto that had the crowd cheering! And there were quite a few mentions of Freddy, which was nice.
Afterwards we went to Reilly's on Yonge Street (Yonge/Dundas) and sat by the window ... a great place to people watch.
Glad you enjoyed! Can't wait, I am going Tuesday night!

You're going to love it, LeeAnn!
ReplyDeleteI think I am gonna wanna jump on stage and SING Teena! My friend I am going with is in her 20's and hardly knows any of their songs LOL I am going to embarass the heck out of her bopping around in my chair. I love love LOVE Queen, Freddie is amazing!! I saw Queen Live 3 times, incredible.
ReplyDeleteBTW have you heard Mika Grace Kelly? If not look on you tube. He sounds quite a bit like Freddie.
You saw Queen three time!? Wow! Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteYou'll enjoy this then, LeeAnn. It's quite clever how they spun the story around the songs.
Yes and back in the days of the program CHEAP THRILLS - you had subscription tickets to Maple Gardens for every concert, if you didn't want them you just didn't pay for them and then went out to the general public ...we had 10 row FLOORS!!!!! The groups were so close you could almost touch them.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh those were the days!
Thanks for posting on this Teena. I was curious about this (as I LOVE Queen), but I was pretty unsure about it after reading plot line. It sounded a little goofy. As far as I'm concerned, you don't mess with Freddie! ;) But I'm sold, and will give this a try soon.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Liz
