Knitting and movies

Gord was in St. Catharines in a fencing tournament today ... he came in 24/48. Yay, Gord!

I spent the day on the couch knitting and watching movies ... that's what I was in the mood for.

I watched:

* Mallrats - I'd never seen it before. Not a good as I was expecting.
* The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert - it's been a while since I've seen it
* My Big Fat Greek Wedding
* Stripes
* Wild Hogs
* There's Something About Mary
* Meet the Parents - I went to bed halfway

I've been wanting to learn how to entrelac. I think it's a cool pattern and I was getting it ... but I wasn't enjoying doing it. So pulled the dishcloth apart after a couple hours.

Instead I made a fin and feather pattern dish cloth:

Cotton yarn and size 4.5mm knitting needles

Cast on 42 stitches (or a multiple of 18 plus 6)

Knit 3 rows of garter stitch for the border

Row 4: Knit

Row 5: K 3, P to last 3 stitches K3

Row 6: K3, *(K2 tog) 3 times, (yo, K1) 6 times, (K2 tog) 3 times, rep from * to last 3 sts K3

Row 7: Knit

Repeat Rows 4 - 7, keeping first and last 3 stitches in garter stitch, until piece measures desired length

Knit 3 more rows of garter stitch to make the bottom border

Cast off and darn in ends

  1. That's pretty neat. I am hopeless at that sort of thing. My great-aunt tried to teach me, but gave up and said I'd never get it. Ah well, I bet she couldn't write a blog!

  2. Wow! NICE job! I would LOVE to do that! Spend the day watching movies and knitting!!!!!!!!! I don't think I'll be able to do that for another few YEARS -- when the kids are at sleepover camp!!! ;)

    Glad you gave yourself the day to just VEG! Some good movies there! :)

  3. You're knitting, too! I'm still trying to revive my love for crocheting. A neat piece you made. =)

  4. I like that pattern. Great job. I've been learning crochet entrelac. It's fun and pretty easy. But I like the way knit entrelac looks better.
