Movie/dinner date with Angie

Angie and I saw Rachel Getting Married with Anne Hathaway this afternoon at the Varsity.

When Kym returns to the Buchman family home for the wedding of her sister, Rachel, she brings a long history of personal crisis, family conflict and tragedy along with her. The wedding couple's abundant party of friends and relations has gathered for a joyful weekend of feasting, music and love, but Kym--with her biting one-liners and flair for bombshell drama--is a catalyst for long-simmering tensions in the family dynamic.

I thought this movie was going to be a lot better than it was.

It's 116 minutes ... they could have cut out the scenes with the dinner before the wedding and the wedding reception and shortened it by at least 30 minutes.

It's a dreary draggy movie. I asked Angie afterwards to rate it and she gave it 3/10. And I had to agree with her.

The dog running around was cute. The band never stopped playing.

I was glad when it was over.

Afterwards we had supper at the Foxes Den.

Teena and Angie

I met Angie in the spring of 2001. She had started the Girls Night Out Club, a social group for women here in Toronto. I see her about every two months at the events she organizes for us. Amazingly, this is the first time it's been just the two of us.

My group of ladies has not yet pinned down a date for our next meeting. Too much Christmas rush I guess. Glad you managed to make a night of it even if it was just the two of you.
