There's an interesting article in the October issue of More magazine called "Don't Mind the Gap".
If your entourage doesn't include any Gen Xers or seniors, why not? Some of the best relationships skip a generation.
It's about the benefits of having friends who are younger and older than you, rather than just your age.
Your younger friends keep you young and give you a spark.
Your older friends can share their experience and wisdom with you.
I'm lucky in that I have lots of great friends of different ages.
My youngest friend is probably Yvette, who is 32ish. She's a fitness trainer and a a Master in the Art and Science of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming). I met her in the summer of 2004 when she became my trainer and boxing instructor.
My oldest friend is probably Deb, who is 54ish. Deb and I worked together in 1995 and have stayed tight since. She and I are part of the Chillin' Chicks.
Who are your youngest and oldest friends?
I've got a ton of older friends, but not too many younger ones, mainly due to the fact that I'm still one of the youngest people at work usually and I hardly meet them otherwise.
ReplyDeleteI know some pretty cool senior citizens too, all their faculties intact and great stories to tell!
AAt this point in my life the range of friends is pretty amazing...Probably the youngest friends are in their early 40's...And my oldest friend is 90 years old with quite a few others in their mid to late 80's---And everything inbetween. And I am 78!
ReplyDeleteHi! Thanks for the blogoversary wishes!
ReplyDeleteI have a circle that includes twentysomethings to seventy/eightysomethings.
I consider myself lucky to know them all!
How true! Think friends just add a totally different prespective on life as we tend to get lost in ourselves sometimes. Here's to Friends.
ReplyDeleteI'm singing: Make new friends, keep the old, one is silver and the other gold:)
ReplyDeleteMy youngest friend is in her late twenties. Mrs. Barry, who has been my friend for over ten years is 89 years young. (I'm trying to talk her into starting a blog:) My best friend is my daughter. She's in her mid-thirties!
Good point} Well, for as long as I can remember, I get along better with people who are older and more mature than I am. I am "meeting" some younger bloggers online, and a couple of younger girls in real life, but majority are people who are wiser than I am :) Maybe it comes from me being the youngest in the family...
ReplyDeleteOh! I got distracted. I wanted to say Thank You for dropping by my blog and taking part in the Pay It Forward! I'll get in touch with you for the mailing address. Now don't be a stranger, and I do hope to hear from you again!

Juanita
