Lysol ... not just for cleaning your toilet

I'm reading A History of Marriage.

There's a section about Lysol.

Lysol, you ask?

Years ago, when women were concerned about genital odor, they were encouraged to squirt Lysol into their vagina because it apparently eliminated bacteria which caused the smell. They also used for birth control to kill sperm.

Check out these ads from the 1920s - 60s, 1926, 1928, 1934 and 1948.

Huh?!

Scary stuff!

I just wanted to stop by and say thank you for leaving a comment. I always love seeing new "faces". I have put your blog on my list to follow. Feel free to do the same with mine.

    Happy Thursday.

  3. Yikes! I am proud to say I've never had an odor that needed the strength of Lysol to eliminate. And though I'm all about birth control, using Lysol seems like spermicidal genocide. : )

Obviously they never heard Dr. OZ saying that a woman's private parts are a "slef cleaning oven" - don't put anything in there :)
