Mount Royal Park (Parc du Mont-Royal)

I felt like getting out and about so I took a walk along Rue Ste-Catharine O.

I veered up Rue Peel and climbed the hill towards Mount Royal Park.

The mountain is one of Montreal's largest greenspaces. The park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, who also designed New York's Central Park, and was inaugurated in 1876.

To get to the top, you can either go along the path that meanders up the hill.

Or you can take the stairs.

Then you finish off with a steep path.

Yes, it's a hard climb but it's worth it for the view of the city.

The park contains two belvederes ... this is the Kondiaronk Belvedere.

Built in 1906, it is named for the Huron chief Kondiaronk, who signed a major peace accord with the French regime in 1701.

It's very cool inside ...

I was sitting on a bench in front of Kondiaronk Belvedere when I took this ... there were lots of people checking out the view.

It was definitely easier to climb down the stairs!
