Casa Mendoza, Toronto, ON

Gord and I have a list of things to do on our fridge (so we don't forget). Having drinks and supper on the patio of Casa Mendoza was on our list.

We walked there this afternoon. It's a 7km walk ... so my beer tasted extremely good on the patio when we got there.

Casa Mendoza boasts a great view of the city and Humber Bay Park East ...

... that is until this condo company started building a sales office next door.

We sat on the patio of the Last Call Sports Lounge ...

There's Gord on the upper patio ...

We approached it from the south (the patio entrance). Here's the north entrance ...

Our server intimated that the property has been sold to a condo developer. I wouldn't be surprised considering condos are being built on either side of it.

That's too bad.

But it's showing signs of wear.

Gord ordered the Gipsy Steak (strips of sirloin steak tossed with mushrooms, bell peppers and onions in Burgundy sauce, served with gnocchi).

I had honey garlic wings and fries, which were good.

The ladies' washroom was kind of wacky. There was a table in a setting room as you entered ... just in case we want to play cards or have a tarot card reading perhaps?

There is a piano bar downstairs which I suspect attracts an older crowd on the weekends. It was featured on Restaurant Makeover a couple years ago.

When we left, it was cloudy and the construction machines were sleeping for the weekend.

I'm glad we got there. If it's still there next summer, we'll definitely go back to spend some time on the patio for a few drinks and supper.

What a great place! I can't believe I never went there! Too bad about the condo thing. If it's still around next time I'm there (and weather is permitting) I shall be sure to indulge myself :)
