Gord took some cooking courses at George Brown College a couple years ago.
One of the things he learned how to make was tourtière.
A tourtière is a meat pie originating from Quebec, usually made with minced pork and/or veal, or beef. It is a traditional part of the Christmas and/or Christmas Eve réveillon and New Year's Eve meal in Quebec.
The recipe he uses is similar to this one except he mixes the mashed potatoes in with the meat mixture and doesn't include cognac.
He made it for supper tonight and it was delicious!
Yummy!
He always makes a double batch of the meat mixture which he freezes so we can have it again in a month or so (he just has to get the pie crust).
And there's still a piece left over for my lunch tomorrow!
Thanks, Gord!
The tourtiere looks yummilicious! Am sure that it tastes better the next day.
ReplyDeleteHappy new year Teena. May everything's nice like the tourtiere for you in 2011. ;)
