Back in October, there was an article in The Toronto Star announcing that a limited number of bottles of Samuel Adams' Utopias beer would be released in Toronto. It would be 27% alcohol and $115 for a 26 ounce bottle.
Needless to say, Gord, because he is such a beer geek, was excited!
Articles followed in The Star, and also on the Great Canadian Beer Blog, that the bottles would be sold in a lottery fashion.
Gord and I put our names in the lottery along with more than 1600 others.
Alas, we weren't picked as winners for one of the coveted 70 bottles a couple weeks ago. Gord, though, has found a bar downtown that has a bottle so he will be stopping in for a taste (rumoured to be $20 for an ounce).
Josh Rubin at The Star managed to get a bottle and wrote about it here.
Would you spent $115 for a bottle of beer?

As much as I love a good ale, I think that's too rich for my blood, in many ways!
Uh, no, I don't need to taste it, but what on earth makes it worth so much money? I can't imagine.
Have a lovely day,
Cindy
