Oddly there isn't a restaurant in the hotel where I'm staying nor is there a grocery store nearby to make something in the suite's kitchenette.
From 5pm to 7pm, though, the hotel has a free "reception" ... basically all you can eat supper. Tonight's meal was boneless chicken breast smothered in a mushroom sauce and salad. I'm not a fan of mushrooms or salad so I went next door to another hotel's restaurant, Network Bar & Grill.
I ordered pork chops and mashed potatoes.
They looked and tasted like they were made by your mom. Nothing fancy ... good if you are looking for comfort food. My only complaint is that it could have been hotter (it must have been sitting for a while). Definitely not worth $21!
For dessert, my server recommended the chocolate lava cake.
It was okay, not great ... I suspect the cake was microwaved.
After my scary drive to London, I must say that my beer tasted good!
omgosh girl... You are brave venturing London bound with these weather coniditions....but I understand the need for a good night's sleep before early morning morning meeting...
ReplyDeleteThat bed does look cozy... good luck with your seminar tomorrow and drive home!!! it is supose to be better weather... HHL
The pork chops look delicious!
ReplyDeleteHope the drive home is much easier. Have a good seminar.
ReplyDeleteOh man, those pictures are making me pretty hungry at the moment xD
ReplyDeletethere wasnt much choice with the mushroom menu was there. I hate mushrooms too!
ReplyDeleteHotel food...I empathize. I dread business travel because I know I'll be eating terribly until I get back from the house. I always choose right from the menu - low-fat, balanced dishes - but the fact that it isn't my kitchen just throws me off.
ReplyDeleteYou're brave for making the wintry drive out here: on a good day, the 401 and 403 freak me out. The worst part is where the 403 snakes through Hamilton...gives me the willies just thinking about it.
