It seemed like luck when this gorgeous stranger first stopped to help Chris with her car but suddenly her peaceful life turns topsy-turvy as tender, long-suffering Ken Callahan enlists the sympathies of her 7-year-old daughter and her meddlesome Aunt Edna. And even Chris can't deny the excitement his magnetic blue-black eyes spark deep within her ... But who is he?
I'm a fan of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series but haven't read any of her earlier stuff. She wrote romances from 1988 - 1992 which have been re-released ... this is one of them. I downloaded it from the library.
The characters were likable and I especially liked our hero, Ken. He was funny and caring. Aunt Edna was cute too. I liked our heroine, Chris, but her dwelling on her past marriage got very old and tiresome. She'd been married to a cad for about two months eight years ago ... he'd left her when he found out she was pregnant. She hadn't been in a relationship since and fought against being one with Ken. And Ken was too good to be true ... you know he had to hiding a secret!
Since this was a romance novel, it wasn't a big surprise that they fell madly in love three days meeting.
I can see flickers of Evanovich's style in this earlier book ... for the most part, I enjoyed it.
