Hmmm... being the owner of both a Yorkie and a Yellow Lab ... I would say no. Small dogs can easily sit on an owners lap ~ and this is possibly the best place for little furbabies, for their own safety. Large dogs probably should not be put into situations where there are lots of peopleand chaos ... again for the dog's sake ... why put it in an uncomfortable situation. Having said all that is the dog is charged the same fare as a human riding passenger - than yes it should have its own seat ;) ... great question - it will be interesting to read responses. Have a good night ..HHL
I had never thought of this. Dogs are animals and that is why I think they should not be put in situations, like buses, where there are possibly small children near who are afraid of animals. I have never seen a dog on Winnipeg buses. So not only should they not ride a bus but if they do and sit in a seat then they should be charged. I could see taking a small dog if it is kenneled. But then what do the owners of large dogs do when their dog needs to go to the vets and they are dependent on transit? Hmmm...something to think about I guess. Cindy
My son is asthmatic and carries an epi-pen because he is deathly allergic to dogs. I would have to say in such a small space, where ventilation is limited no animal unless it's a service animal should ever be allowed on public transportation. People don't realize how serious animal allergies can be. He even has a hard time going to the park and being in grass where dogs are walked. :(
I think that Dogparents should not let dogs sit on seats, but I also think that people parents should not let childern stand on seats. But I dont sweat either issue too much, it is after all public transportation and you gotta expect this stuff from public

Off the top of my head---NO. They can sit on the laps of their owners, but not on the seats themselves....Just my opinion.
Thank you for thinking of me, but...Betty G. was not in "Valentine's Day"...

Naomi: Yes, Betty was ... she had a cameo towards the end.
HHL: I think it's okay if the streetcar/bus isn't busy.

No. I think they should be either on a lap or on the floor.
I'm okay with dogs on seats if there's room enough. I've never seen it though, so I'm sure most people keep their pooches on a leash next to them.
I tend to go with no dogs on the seats for reasons above: I wouldn't want people standing on the seats and the possiblity of fur being left behind.
Laps is fine though.
I'm gonna go with "NO". But they can sit anywhere else they like.
