"Our Idiot Brother"

Shawna, Trish and I saw Our Idiot Brother this evening.

Ned lived a happy life growing organic vegetables on a farm with his hippie girlfriend and his dog named Willie Nelson, but an unadvised incident with marijuana at a farmer's market lands him in jail. When he gets out of jail, he is off to live with his sisters. While Ned is still happy, his sisters are much less so after he manages to screw up one marriage, one job opportunity, one budding relationship and one domestic partnership. He sees those problems as breakdowns in communication but his sisters see him as an idiot.

This got a good review in last week's Toronto Star. I like Paul Rudd and the movies he's been in (though I hated last year's How Do You Know) so was looking forward to seeing it.

It's a cute movie. All Ned wants to do is get his dog, Willie Nelson, back. He 's not an idiot ... he just lives in a naive bubble. He throws his trust out into the world and assumes it will won't be abused. He's honest without meaning to cause any trouble.

If you're looking for something cute and positive, you should check it out.

Here are Shawna, Trish and I after the movie.
