We spent most of our photo class this evening outside the classroom.
We spent about fifteen minutes in St. Lawrence Market practicing spot metering.
Then we headed to St. James Park to practice focus recomposing and aperture (having a shallow depth of field, ie blur). Here's a picture I took of Gord that I thought turned out nice.
Here's our instructor, Ingrid. She had us practicing depth of field. She was further from the fountain behind here .. notice how blurry it is in the first pic. She got closer to it, thus making the background more clear. Lesson learned ... if you want the background blurry, don't have your subject stand close to it.
At the end of the class, she took us to the corner of Richmond and Yonge to practice creative nighttime shots. Here's one of mine.
Only two more weeks to go. It's been an excellent course and I've learned a lot ... too bad it has to end.

I like the night time shot you took. Very nice.
Nice pics, doing great!
My friend is a photography major and has been teaching me a little bit (and I do mean a little bit) about all this stuff. She has some wicked cool night scenes like that :)
All your pictures are beautiful! It sounds like you're enjoying and taking a lot of out this class!
I love that last shot of the intersection at night. Glad to hear you're enjoying your class.
LOVE the night time pic. Great photos. I wish there was a class like that around here.
