Rodeo Brazilian Steakhouse Rodizio, Toronto, ON

Monday is my pal, Shawna's birthday and she had a birthday party tonight at Rodeo Brazilian Steakhouse (Broadview/Danforth).  There were 17 of us.

And there's the birthday girl, Shawna!

You start off helping yourself to the salads and appetizers (cheese, veggies, fruit, etc.).

Gord and I had a Mojito ... it was good.

While we were eating, a three piece band entertained us.

Here are me and Gord (we both got some sun earlier on the walk).

Once they realize you are ready for the meat servings, they start bringing it on.  You can have whatever you want for as long as you want ... they just keep coming to your table with different kinds of meat until you tell them to stop.

Are you ready?!

Chicken legs ...

Beef ribs ..

Sausages ...

 Bacon-wrapped turkey ...

Chicken thighs ...

Keeping track?  So far I had bacon-wrapped turkey, chicken leg, sausage, beef rib and chicken thigh on my plate.

Then they brought some platters of mashed potatoes and deep-fried bananas (I'd never had them before ... they are good!).

Then came garlic-beef (I didn't care much for this) ...

Lamb (I passed) ...

Pork ribs (they were delicous!) ...

Pork roast ...

Prime rib (I passed on it as it was too rare for my liking) ...

Sirloin beef (it was well-done and yummy) ...

I was sooooo full!!

Then the entertainment started ...

For dessert, there was pineapple brushed with cinnamon and roasted.  I'd never had it before and, as full as I was, I had to try it.  I was sooooo good!

Here are Shawna and I.

Shawna and Gord did some dancing ...

Here are Dionne, Shawna and Rebecca ...

And what's a birthday with being surprised with a piece of cake?!

I'd never been there or to a Brazilian steakhouse before so had no idea what to expect.  I just assumed it was a regular restaurant.

At $60 a person, it's not cheap but it's something fun and different to do, especially if you are a meat eater ... but go hungry!  My only complaint is that it was really really warm and stuffy (we were all sweating) ... they need to get some cool air circulating.

  2. We have a place in Houston that opened after the first President Bush tried it down in Brazil that is very similar. I love going there but yes it is expensive. The first time I went I remember being worried one of the servers was going to chop my ear right off. We don't have the pineapple (it looks great) but the fried plantains, bacon wrapped Filet Mignon, and Parmesan crusted pork loin are my favorites.

  4. DO NOT EAT HERE!

Several of my students used to work here. Some of them are pictured in these pics. The management does not pay out tips to the staff. The servers and kitchen staff receive minimum wage and NONE of the tips. All the tips are collected and shared amongst the hosts who simply seat the customers at tables. Please do not support this kind of practice and let others know that this immoral style of management takes place at this restaurant.
