George Thorogood and the Destroyers, Massey Hall, Toronto, ON

George Thorogood and the Destroyers were in town tonight at Massey Hall and Gord and I were there.

We saw them four years ago.  The first time I saw them was back in the early 1980s in Halifax, NS.

Sit Down, Servant!! opened for them (they are members of Big Sugar).  They were okay.  It was kind of hard to get into them since I don't know any of their songs.

The sold-out crowd was there for Thorogood ... and he didn't disappoint!  At 62, his voice is still there and he's quite a showman.  He played a few songs from his last album, 2120 South Michigan Ave, but the majority were the older tunes the crowd wanted to hear.

It was mostly an older crowd.  At most concerts, people stand during most of the concert, dancing and singing.  Tonight most (I guess showing their age?) sat in their seats during the entire performance.  Great because there was no one in my way but with some songs I wanted to get up and boogie.

After two encores, they left the stage.  The lights came on and our national anthem was playing.  Thorogood came out one more time to thank everyone for coming.
