Saint-Pierre cemetery

I find old cemeteries fascinating.

So when Jean Claude took us on our tour and we drove past the Saint-Pierre cemetary, I knew I had to go back and spend some time roaming around ... this was part of Gord and my walk this afternoon.

There are lots of older graves.  It seems like they date back just to the late 1800s, though, which surprised me as I thought they'd be older.

There was a contrast between the more extravagant and/or well-loved graves to the simpler and neglected ones.

I took tons of pictures ... here are some of the more interesting ones.

Definitely a lot different that our graveyards.

There are no cremation services in Saint-Pierre.  If you wish to be cremated, your body has to be shipped to St. John's.

  1. Interesting pictures! That's also interesting about being cremated.
