Elephant & Castle, Toronto, ON

This evening Gord and I met his cousin (once removed), Deanne, and her daughter, Carling, for supper at the Elephant & Castle on Yonge Street.

Gord and Deanne hadn't seen each other in about 45 years (Deanne was a baby)!  Deanne's grandmother, Dot, is Gord's aunt (his father's sister).

Deanne and Carling live in North Carolina and are in Toronto for a week (Deanne is originally from Toronto).  She and Carling are in town for a visit and to check out the University of Toronto for Carling.

Here are Deanne and Carling.

And here we are ... Deanne, Carling, me and Gord.

I ordered chicken curry ... it was okay.

Gord ordered dry ribs and wings.  He enjoyed them.

Carling ordered onion soup and pretzels.  She said they were good.

Deanne ordered meatloaf.  She said the mashed potatoes were good, the meatloaf a bit too peppery and veggies could have been cooked more.

It was great to meet Deanne ... she and I have been Facebook friends for a while.  It was fun to hear Gord and Deanne exchange stories of their childhoods.

Veronica, our server, took good care of us.
