There is no restaurant in my hotel so I walked a couple blocks to the Outback Steakhouse.
Long Island Iced Teas were on special for $3.99 ... I had a glass of red wine instead.
The bread was good ... it was warm and tasted like molasses.
I didn't feel like chicken or ribs so ordered prime rib. On my server, Tianna's advice, I got it seasoned and seared rather than chargrilled.
I passed on the veggies and mushrooms and got extra garlic mashed potatoes instead (I left a pile).
I had ordered it medium and it was too rare for my liking.
Plus it was so seasoned that I found it to be too much and couldn't taste the meat. The meat was really fatty and had a funky texture.
Not a great meal but Tianna was a good server ... she was friendly and prompt.
The hostess at the front door could use some personality.

I'm not sure how long you're in Edmonton but you mentioned having a rental car. I haven't lived in Edmonton for 5 years but if it's still there Cheesecake Cafe on 170th street would be a great restaurant to try. It's not far from your hotel at all.
