Book ~ "Click: An Online Love Story" (2011) Lisa Becker

From Goodreads ~ Fast approaching her 30th birthday and finding herself not married, not dating, and without even a prospect or a house full of cats, Renee Greene, the heroine of Click: An Online Love Story, reluctantly joins her best guy pal on a journey to find love online in Los Angeles.

The story unfolds through a series of emails between Renee and her best friends (anal-compulsive Mark, the overly-judgmental Ashley and the over-sexed Shelley) as well as the gentlemen suitors she meets online.

From the guy who starts every story with "My buddies and I were out drinking one night," to the egotistical "B" celebrity looking for someone to stroke his ego, Renee endures her share of hilarious and heinous cyber dates. Fraught with bcc:s, FWDs and inadvertent Reply to Alls, readers will root for Renee to "click" with the right man.

Renee is single and will soon be thirty.  It's been a year since she and Derrek broke up and she's ready to find "the one".  A couple days after New Years, her buddy, Mark, convinces her to join him on an online dating site.  She signs up with Choose Jews.  The book follows her almost yearlong adventure.

At first she is hesitant about responding to the messages she receives.  After a while, she gets into it and meets the men who respond to her profile after the first or second intro message and even proactively sends messages when she sees profiles she likes.  And there is quite a list of characters!

The book is made up entirely of emails between Renee, her friends (Mark, Ashley and Shelley) and the men she corresponds with online.  It took me a bit to get into the groove of this writing style but once I did, it was an easy fun read (I read it in less than four hours this afternoon).  The characters were funny and extreme (Mark was anal, Ashley was a bitch and Shelley was frisky).

I enjoyed this book and would recommend it.  I look forward to future books by this author.

Double Click, the sequel, should be out this spring.  Yippee!

I received a copy of this ebook from the author at no charge in exchange for my honest review.
