Gord and I went to the Toronto Rock game this evening... they were playing the Buffalo Bandits.
The Toronto Rock is a professional lacrosse franchise founded in 1998. They are in the Eastern Division of the National Lacrosse League (NLL).
The Rock cheerleaders and Iggy (wearing bunny ears) warmed up the crowd.
Here come the Rock!
Scotty Newlands sang the American national anthems.
Dylana Williams (it was Kidz Night) did an excellent job singing the Canadian national anthem.
Former Blue Jays Roberto Alomar, who received a standing ovation, did the ceremonial faceoff.
The Rock huddled to get psyched. Go, Rock, go!
And then the game began.
It was a fairly rowdy game.
After the first quarter, the Rock was winning 4 to 2. Yay!
Our seats were in section 113 ... it's the first time we've sat there. In theory, they were great seats because we were in line with the net and we had a great view of the field.
But vendors were continually getting in the way selling beer, ice cream, popcorn, etc. ... plus people were up and down heading to the bathroom. I wouldn't sit on this angle again.
When these two vendors weren't in the way trying to entice the crowd to buy food or beer, they spent a lot of their time hanging out yakking (at least they were out of the way).
At the end of the second quarter, the Rock was winning 7 to 6. Yay!
During the intermission, the Rock cheerleaders were joined by mini cheerleaders.
And Iggy had fun in the crowd.
Honoured in the crowd was Brad Ough, silver medalist in the 2013 World Special Olympics.
Another fight!
At the end of the third quarter, the Rock was winning 14 to 6. Yay!
The 50/50 prize was $4,910 ... sweet!
Alas, we didn't win :(
The attendance for tonight was 11,546. There seemed to be a lot of Buffalo fans in the crowd too.
The Rock won 18 to 11. Yay! It was an exciting game!
Just one more game to go in the season.
Yet another fun night out :)
