Gord headed to Hamilton this morning for a belated Father's Day celebration with his son, Ken.
It is such a nice day so I headed down to
Harbourfront to check out the
Redpath Waterfront Festival ... it was the official launch of the
Tall Ships 1812 Tour.
I started at the west end and walked eastward.
At HTO Park West, I caught the end of
18min12sec which told the story of the War of 1812 in 18 minutes and 12 seconds. It was entertaining.

Hawaiian Punch was giving out free bottles of punch. It was refreshing considering how hot it was out.

The
Nova Scotia Tourism Agency had a display (I was born in Nova Scotia so checked it out).
The
Peggy's Cove lighthouse was back.
There was a piper and a drummer.
You could have a taste of Nova Scotia like a haddock burger or lobster roll.
If you didn't want seafood, there were lots of vendors selling food and drinks.

I started heading east again ... this is looking back at the Nova Scotia display and food vendors.

The lighthouse looks like it belongs there! |
Amsterdam Brewery has taken over Wallymagoo's and has done an excellent job in renovating it. I'm looking forward to stopping in and checking it out when it officially opens.

At The Wharf at York, there were tents and displays set up with people talking about life in 1812.
To steal a line from
Lieutenant Frank Drebin ... "Nice beaver!"
Parks Canada presented
1812 on Tour where you could learn more about the War of 1812.
As I was heading home, I was hot so I cooled down with a yummy ice cream cone.
We have a ring-side (seaside) seat to watch Tall Ships every day here in Maine. Love seeing the schooners creep by in the mist.

I haven't been to a good fair or festival in awhile so this looked like a really fun time! Especially with all the things they had to do and see ^.^
ReplyDeleteAnd the food. I'm a tried and true sucker for fair food ^.^
