Amsterdam BrewHouse, Toronto, ON

After Gord and I got off the Kajama, we headed to the Amsterdam Brewhouse.  We'd been there a couple weeks ago and enjoyed it.

We hoped we'd gotten there earlier enough to sit on the patio ... but we were told there was at least a 15 minute wait since it was full.  So we sat inside instead in the back by a window.

These two tables outside were empty when we got there ... no one was seated in them until 20 minutes after we got there.  Seeing them empty for that long when we were told there was a wait didn't make me happy.

We were snacky but not really hungry.  Gord ordered fish tacos.  He said they were okay, not great.  He wouldn't get them again.  They were supposed to be served with house taco sauce ... which tasted like a spicy BBQ sauce, not a taco sauce.  One had a lot of slaw but the other two barely had any.

I ordered wings.  I was going to get Thai sweet chili sauce but my server suggested apple butter BBQ instead.  I should have stuck with my first instinct as there wasn't much of taste to the BBQ sauce.  The wings were barely warm and overcooked ... definitely not cooked to order for me.  There were nine wingettes ... no drumettes (I like having both).  I wouldn't order them again.

This restaurant just opened in July and I've read that they are still having service issues ... and we saw that today.  There was lots of staff buzzing around, many hanging around yakking with each other.  We waited almost 25 minutes for a drink ... our server disappeared a lot or ignored us.  Definitely not as good an experience as our first time.  I hope they can get their issues under control.
