Broadleaf Guest Ranch, New Brunswick

Every year for the last couple years about this time of year, I meet up with Chrissy and Elaine, two friends I went to university with.  We graduated from St. F.X.U. in 1983.

Chrissy lives outside Sydney, NS, and Elaine lives in Moncton, NB. This year Elaine had the great idea of spending the weekend at the Broadleaf Guest Ranch, which is about 30 minutes south of Moncton.

I flew to Halifax on Thursday and stayed with Sister Sarah that night.  Then she and I drove to Moncton on Friday (she was my roommate) ... we drove back to Halifax today and I flew home.

Broadleaf Guest Ranch is an 1100 acre, family owned and operated adventure business located in Albert County, New Brunswick, in the heart of the Bay of Fundy! We have been providing memorable experiences for over 50 years and 3 generations. The tranquil atmosphere enables our clients to submerse themselves in Broadleaf's soothing surroundings.

Combine our country setting with our delicious home-cooked Ranch cuisine and toss in some great outdoor adventures, spa treatments, and country-style lodging, to give you an award winning recipe for an exceptional, stress free, all-inclusive holiday package.

There are three cabins in a row on the hill ... we were in cabin #2 (Comanche).  It was a self-contained cabin with a living room, kitchen, two bedrooms (with a double bed and single bunkbeds in each room) and a bathroom.

Here's our view looking out at the marsh ... horses could be seen roaming around it.  I woke up in the mornings hearing cows and roosters ... quite a difference from the sirens and streetcars I hear in Toronto.

We had the ladies' pampering package ... five meals (supper on Friday, breakfast/lunch/supper on Saturday and brunch today) and spa services.

We had supper at the restaurant on Friday evening ... it was a busy spot!

Fresh buns!
My greens salad
We all had a roast turkey dinner ...
mash potatoes, stuffing, cranberries, turkey, gravy and cole slaw.
It was delish!

The four of us had a bonfire that night.

Since our spa services started earlier, we had our breakfast delivered to our cabin yesterday morning.  Three of us had a cold breakfast and Sister Sarah had the hot breakfast.

Tina and Tiffany, the estheticians, arrived for our spa services just before 9am (they were with us for three hours).  We each had a 20 minute back massage, a manicure and a pedicure.

We were too relaxed to go for lunch so had it delivered ... I had a turkey sandwich, salad and hot apple crumble.  Yum!

We went horseback riding yesterday afternoon, which is right across the street the cabins.

We were too comfortable to go for supper last night so had it delivered.  I had the roast turkey dinner again as did Sister Sarah.  Chrissy and Elaine had nachos.

Brunch today was a buffet.  There was lots to choose from ... tea biscuits, bacon, ham, sausages, quiche, scrambled eggs, home fries, mashed potatoes, stuffing, fiddleheads, potato salad, chow, mustard pickles, desserts and lots lots more!  It was part of our package ... it's only $14 if you aren't in the package.  It was a a popular spot!

We hit the road for home about noon today.

What a great place!  I would definitely recommend it for a weekend getaway.  It was only $275/person.  We are talking about going back again next year!  The only strange thing I found about the cabin is that there was no phone.  Granted the office can be seen from the cottages but what if there was an emergency and you didn't have a cell phone?  Or you wanted your meals delivered but didn't have a cell phone?

A huge shout-out to Kathy Weir!  She took such good care of us!  She would pop up to the cabin to make sure we had everything we needed, delivered our meals, etc.  She even washed our dishes which felt strange since we were sitting right there but she kept stressing that we were there to be pampered.
