I spent last night at the DoubleTree, which is in downtown Regina. My friend, Shawna, who works in the travel industry here in Regina recommended it.
It's recently been renovated and is having its grand opening today.

When I checked in, Lauren at Reception was extremely friendly and chatty. She gave me a warm cookie. I found all the staff really friendly.
Here is my room with a king bed. As I walked in, just like home, there were hooks to hang my coat (rather than in the closet) on the right.
And a shelf to put my room card and car keys on the left.
There is a balcony ... alas, it's too cold to enjoy it.
The room ($230/night) was fairly big ... the bed is comfy! There was a minifridge in the room. WIFI was free ... I found a few times it wasn't overly speedy but for the most part it was okay. There was a safe in the room. Parking was $13.64/night ... you self-park either in the parking lot or garage. Because it's so cold, if you park your car outside, you should plug it in ... but there are no plugs outside. So I parked in the garage but didn't plug my car in and it was okay this morning.
This morning I had breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel, Wild Sage.
There was a breakfast buffet for $15 ... too much food first thing in the morning for me! Instead I ordered two eggs, back bacon, potatoes and toast along with a glass of milk.
I was pleasantly surprised when a plate of fruit and a small strawberry banana smoothie arrived first ... yum!
The jam was Saskatoon berries |
My breakfast was good but filling ... I left most of the potatoes and some toast. Brenda was my server and she took good care of me. She was friendly and made sure I had everything I needed.
Because my flight to Winnipeg doesn't leave until later today, I asked for a late check-out since I had nowhere to go. I had expected to be told to leave at noon but they said I could stay in my room 'til 3pm if I wanted at no extra charge ... that was much appreciated!
I'd stay here again!

3 pm is a super late checkout. What a nice hotel.
