I have an enrolment seminar to conduct this morning in London. It's more than a two hour drive at the best of times from home. With weather and traffic, I didn't want to chance it so drove down yesterday. As it turns out, the drive was brutal and took 4.5 hours because they'd closed the highway for most of the day.
I stayed at the
Homewood Suites (401/Exeter).
Studio suites are $120/night and I spent the extra $5 and got a one bedroom suite (so $125/night).

The receptionist was friendly when I checked in. There were warm shortbread cookies on the counter. Parking and WIFI were free (the speed of the WIFI wasn't too bad). There was a small safe in the stand with the TV in the living room. The kitchen was stocked with plates, utensils, glasses, toaster, etc.
There was a pool, hot tub and gym.
There isn't a restaurant in the hotel but there is a free continental breakfast with hot and cold choices (6:00am to 10am) daily and supper (4pm to 7pm) Monday to Thursday served in the lobby.
Last night's supper was garlic and herb tilapia, wild rice and spring peas and mushrooms. You can purchase alcohol to go along with supper if you want. I arrived about 6:45pm (because of the traffic) and didn't feel like rushing down so missed supper. If you plan on making your own meals in the suite or catching the supper
downstairs, you'd like it here. I like checking out different
restaurants, though, and being able to walk to them, rather than drive (there are lots of restaurants within driving distance). Not a big deal when it's nice out but it was too cold and icy to walk to them last
night.
At least you weren't at the airport with all the other travelers. Goodness enough of the deep freeze! Happy travels and all the bet for 2014. Bundle up and drive safe.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a nice, cozy room!
