From Goodreads ~ Who would have guessed that four minutes could change everything?
Today should be one of the worst days of seventeen-year-old Hadley Sullivan's life. Having missed her flight, she's stuck at JFK airport and late to her father's second wedding, which is taking place in London and involves a soon-to-be stepmother Hadley's never even met. Then she meets the perfect boy in the airport's cramped waiting area. His name is Oliver, he's British, and he's sitting in her row.
A long night on the plane passes in the blink of an eye, and Hadley and Oliver lose track of each other in the airport chaos upon arrival. Can fate intervene to bring them together once more?
Quirks of timing play out in this romantic and cinematic novel about family connections, second chances, and first loves. Set over a twenty-four-hour-period, Hadley and Oliver's story will make you believe that true love finds you when you're least expecting it.
Hadley is seventeen. Her dad is a professor who went to England to teach for a semester and never came back ... he'd met Charlotte, they fell in love and now they are getting married. Hadley is still bitter than her dad had broken up her family and she doesn't want to go. Her mom makes her go so she commits to going for the shortest amount of time possible.
When she misses her flight, Hadley catches the next one, which will barely get her at the wedding in time. But this allows her to meet Oliver, who is English, slightly older than Hadley and going to university in the States. They have a connection and he keeps her company at the airport and on the flight. When she gets to the wedding, she has to deal with her relationship with her dad and meeting her new stepmother while pondering her quick friendship with Oliver.
This is the first book I've read by this author and I liked it. I like the writing style ... I found it moved along well. Written in third person perspective, it covers a 24-hour period with a focus on Hadley. Though it is a YA story, I didn't find the writing too young for me.
I liked the characters. Hadley was still trying to come to terms with her dad leaving her and her mother and starting a new life in another country far away with a woman with funny accent she had never met. Her mother had moved on and was in love with a man who wanted to marry her (but she kept saying no). Oliver was entertaining and funny and managed to dodge most of Hadley's questions and didn't reveal too much about himself. He was there for Hadley, a stranger, when she needed someone.
I look forward to reading other books by this author.

I'd give it a chance.
I want to read this one... eventually. I think I have it loaded up on my e-reader.
