David Wilcox, Hugh's Room, Toronto, ON

I've been a fan of David Wilcox's since the 1980s and have seen him in concert a few times over the years.

Tonight he was playing at Hugh's Room, which was just a streetcar ride away for Gord and I.

It was jammed when we got there (you get the better seats if you eat there before the show) but we scored some stools against a wall.  It was an acoustic experience.  He played the first set alone ... not playing many of his own songs but lots of songs by others.

Here are Gord and I during the break between sets.  We both wore our David Wilcox teeshirts we'd bought about ten years ago ... everyone kept asking us where we'd got them.

Hugh's Room was packed with fans!

When David came back for the second set, he wasn't alone.  He played some favourites and encouraged the crowd to sing along ... and we did!

Though he sounded great, I wish he'd played more of his own songs rather than obscure songs by others.

I can't wait to see him again!
