Toronto Rock 12, Rochester Knighthawks 17

Gord and I went to the Toronto Rock game tonight (we have season's tickets this year).  The Rock is a professional lacrosse franchise in the National Lacrosse League (NLL).

The Rock were playing the Rochester Knighthawks ... this is the third time they have met this year and Rochester had won the first two games.  Go Rock, go!

To celebrate St. Patrick's Day, a Scottish band played (alas, I just caught the end of it) and there was a green theme.  Then the Rock Cheerleaders entertained.

Iggy was ready for St. Patrick's Day!

The cheerleaders and Scottish band welcomed the Rock players onto the field.

Scotty Newlands sang the national anthems.

The Rock players huddled before the game started.

And the game began ...

Tim and Gillian cheered on the Rock when they scored.

Here's the action from our seats.

It was a rough game at times ...

Why can't we be friends?

At the end of the first quarter, the Rock were winning 6 - 3.  Yay!

At the end of the second quarter, the Rock were winning 9 - 5.  Whoohoo!

Gord's friend, Roger, and Roger's dad, Ben, were at the game too and we met them at halftime.

Ben, Gord and Roger

Some fans are quite creative ...

The Rock cheerleaders entertained again in the third quarter.

The attendance for tonight's game was almost 11,000.

Rochester was winning 13 - 10 after the third quarter ... eek!

The 50/50 draw was worth over $6,000 ... sweet!

Alas, we weren't close :(

Despite the Rock choking, Iggy was still enthusiastic.

This fan got really enthusiastic and started trash talking a Rochester player and pulling on the protective glass.  He was tossed out of the game.

The big bad security guards were on hand if needed

The final score was Rochester 17 - Toronto 12.  Sigh ...

Tim and Gillian still cheered the Rock after the game.

The teams shook hands.

The Rock quickly thanked their fans before they left the field.

Not a big surprise that none of the Rock were among the top three stars of the game.

It's like there were two games tonight ... the first half when the Rock were winning and the second half when they choked.  They are going to have to get their act together if they want to make it into the playoffs (they are currently 4 - 7).
