Book ~ "Authorpreneur in Pajamas" (2014) Geraldine Solon

From Goodreads ~ This may be the best time to be an author but with thousands of books released daily, what will make your book stand out from the rest?

Whether you’re published through a traditional publishing house or are self-published, every author should market his/her book. Although authors need to have a strong face-to-face presence, Authorpreneur in Pajamas focuses on how authors can build their platform in their pajamas while using online tools that increase exposure and visibility.

We live in a virtual world, where digital has taken over paper, where smart phones, tablets and eReaders are now necessities, and where building your author’s platform can be done with a push of a button. Authorpreneur in Pajamas teaches you how to build your author’s platform without leaving your home.

I read a lot and have often wondered what happens to a book once the author has finished it ... how easy/hard is it for it to become a bestseller?

Geraldine Solon has written a how-to for authors.  She believes an author should have a strong presence in person and online. In this book, she focuses on how authors can promote themselves online.  Whether you’re published through a traditional publishing house or are self-published, you still have to work hard to build your "author’s platform".  More authors are choosing to publish their book themselves so they can have full control of their work and not have to wait years until their book is released.  The royalties go directly into the author’s pocket with no middle men involved.

This book was a quick read (the 25 chapters are short and snappy).  The book cover why you write (as a hobby or for money), identifying your readers, promotion strategies, having a website, using social media, building a following, time management and celebrating your milestones.  There are many many links included in the chapters so you can continue to learn more.

You should read this book if you are a budding author and want to know what to do when your book when finished ... because that's when the read work begins.

I am not a budding author by any means, but it sounds like it would be a useful book to read.
