From Goodreads ~ "Dogs Just Wanna Have Fun" is a collection of funny, feel-good, happy-ever-after dog stories featuring the ever-quirky, ever-sarcastic Brett from "This Will Not Look Good on my Resume".
Also featured are her own two dogs, Kessie and Snookums, and her four regulars, Chum, Hunk, Little Miss and Spunky Doo.
Brett keeps getting fired from her jobs. Since she has two dogs and takes them for walks all the time, she decides to become a dog walker. She puts up signs around her neighbourhood and quickly gets three clients ... Hunk, Little Miss Bo Peep and Spunky Doo.
Along the way, she meets other dogs including Chum who kept showing up to go for walks with them, Jocko who was traumatized by getting zapped by the collar of an electric fence his owner had installed, Carson who had a headache because his owner's new girlfriend smoked and wore too much perfume, Rosie who had been beaten when she lost a race and Nisha who was depressed because she was now blind.
Brett doesn't just take the dogs to the park ... they go to the beach on a regular basis and have other adventures like going to sheep herding trials and frisbee throwing competitions. I want to hang out with them! My head spun when she coordinated getting all the dogs into her van and who sat where (they all had their specific spot) and when she got them ice cream (they all got different flavours).
I love reading stories about dogs! This is the first book I've read by this author and I enjoyed it. I liked the writing style ... it was funny and sarcastic. It is written in first person from Brett's point of view. As a head's up, there is a some minor swearing.
Though it is the second in the Brett series, it works as a stand alone. I hadn't read the first one and didn't need to know what was going on. I look forward to reading others by this author.
I received a copy
of this ebook at no charge from the author in exchange for my honest review.
