Gord and I are season ticket holders for the Toronto Rock lacrosse team games ... the Rock is a professional lacrosse franchise in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). This is our third year going to the games and our second year having seasons tickets.
Toronto hosted the Edmonton Rush tonight in the Champion's Cup (it was game one of three in the playoffs). For the first time in NLL history, it is an all-Canadian final for the Champion's Cup.
Tim, who is a season ticket holder who sits in front of us, showed his support for the Rock.
As usual, Scotty Newlands sang the national anthem.
The Rock gathered to get psyched.
And the game began ...
Tim and Gillian were happy when the Rock scored the first two goals.
There were only two red-wigged guys across from us tonight.
Edmonton was winning 5 - 2 after the first quarter.
Tim and Gillian encouraged Toronto at the beginning of the second quarter.
The Rock cheerleaders entertained while the goalies' equipment was measured.
At the end of the second quarter, Edmonton was winning 9 - 4.
The Rock huddled to get psyched at the beginning of the third quarter.
The Rock cheerleaders entertained again country-style.
At the end of the third quarter, Edmonton was winning 12 - 8.
The prize of the 50/50 draw was over $5,300. Sweet!
Alas, we weren't close.
Tonight's attendance was just over 9,000.
Edmonton won ... 15 - 9.
Despite the loss, Tim and Gillian showed their support.
The Rock players thanked their fans for their support.
Iggy, the Rock mascot, didn't make an appearance at all tonight ... where was he?!
Not surprising, the three stars of the game were from Edmonton.
Game two is on Friday in Edmonton. Shoeless Joe's is where the Rock's after-game parties are ... they are encouraging fans to gather there to watch Friday's game.
If necessary, game three will be back in Toronto on June 13. Unfortunately Gord and I have plans so won't be able to go but we'll be there in spirit. Go Rock, go!
