Saint John Ale House, Saint John, NB

I had supper tonight at the Saint John Ale House on Market Square.  You can enter from the street.

Or you can enter through Market Square.

It's small downstairs and I asked one of the servers if there was a table available and he said "no".  He said to check upstairs but he didn't think there was an empty table there either.  So I went upstairs and the space was full of dull empty tables.  Huh?!  So I went back downstairs where it was more lively and sat at the long communal table.

They have a good selection of craft beer.

I ordered the Buttermilk Chicken Fingers and Fries.  If it's good enough for the John Catucci, it's good enough for me!  The fries were good.  The spicy mayo had a nice kick.  I found chicken fingers inconsistent.  Some were good and some were really salty.  I wouldn't get them again.

I found the service was inconsistent too.  There was a couple sitting next to me and they were friends or colleagues of the staff ... the servers kept coming over and chatting and making sure they had everything they needed.  When I needed another beer, my server had gone outside for a while and there was no one backing her up.  I looked around and it wasn't just me ... there were empty glasses on other tables.
