From Goodreads ~ Addison Holmes is at it again. When priceless Russian gems are stolen on their way to Savannah and the courier is murdered, all the clues lead to back to an escort service that seems above reproach. But looks can be deceiving.
Throw in a sexy detective and a dangerous FBI agent, and Addison finds out very quickly that she's in way over her head. But nothing is going to stop her from getting her man.
Addison has been working part-time at her friend, Kate's detective agency. Kate has been hired to help find out what happened to some stolen jewels that a designer had bought in an auction but never received and the murder of the courier who was transporting the jewels. Because Addison doesn't come across as an experienced investigator (because she isn't), she is brought in as part of the investigation.
In the meantime, Addison and Nick, the police officer involved in this case, are trying to figure out where they stand in their relationship ... or determine if they even have one. And he's not all that crazy about her working with FBI Agent Savage, who has made it clear that he is attracted to Addison.
This is the second book I've read by this author and I liked it. Though it is the second in the Addison Holmes series, it works as a stand alone. It was a light fun book to read but I found the whodunnit a bit of a stretch. It is written in first person perspective from Addison's point of view. I liked the writing style ... it was amusing. As a head's up, there is swearing and adult activity.
I liked the characters. I think it's great that Addison has a bit of a cool mom (she's a widow in her fifties). As I said, Addison and Nick are trying to figure things out but it seems like all they do is have sex wherever and whenever they are together. They don't talk a lot or go out on dates. Addison actually wonders at one point whether they are just "f### buddies" (her words, not mine).
I look forward to reading the rest in this series in addition to other books by this author.
