Toronto Blue Jays 1, Detroit Tigers 9, Rogers Centre, Toronto, ON

The Toronto Blue Jays are hosting the Detroit Tigers this weekend ... the Blue Jays won the first two games so we were hoping for a win today.

It's become a Canada Day tradition for Gord and I to go to the Blue Jays game on Canada Day.  Their record was 14 wins - 25 losses on Canada Day going into today's game.

They gave away Canada Day caps to the first 20,000 attendees and Gord and I got there early enough to get one.  Yay!

Because Toronto is having a heatwave, the roof was closed.

Here's the opening line-up for the Blue Jays ...

There was a tribute to the police officers who had responded to the #TorontoStrong incident and members of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Reps threw out the first ceremonial first pitch to
pitchers Marcus Stroman and John Axford
They got autographed balls and shirts

There's always a ceremony for the anthems during the national anthems.  Five hundred members of our Armed Forces unfold our flag.  It's always a sight to see!

Darryl Casselman sang the anthems

JA Happ was the Blue Jays pitcher and the game began ...

Here is the line-up for the Blue Jays.

Here is the view from our seats.

You could buy souvenirs from many spots in Rogers Centre.

The seventh inning stretch ... Okay!  Okay!  Blue Jays!  Blue Jays!  Let's play ball!

The prize for the 50/50 drawa was almost $75,000!

Alas, we didn't win.

Even though the Blue Jays lost 9 - 1, Kevin Pillar made an amazing save stopping a home run.
