The Bentway, Toronto, ON

The Bentway is a public trail and corridor space underneath the Gardiner Expressway that opened less than a year ago.  From July 8 to August 12 on Sunday afternoons, they have a beer garden and entertainment.  Gord and I walked there today.

I had an ear of corn ... it was good!

On August 5, during Sunday Social at the Bentway Beer Garden, celebrate the traditions of Trinidadian carnival with D’Barrack Yard.  D’Barrack Yard takes inspiration from Trinidadian history and carnival celebrations. The barrack yard was traditionally a space that emancipated Trinidadians gathered after leaving the plantation, it was here that the steelpan drum was born, and that revelers congregated on the evening before of J’ouvert morning, the opening of the carnival. On August 5, join Moses Revolution, Connector, and New Dimension Steel Orchestra for The Bentway’s D’Barrack Yard.

Rhoma Spencer was our host.

Joel ‘Connector’ Davis started us off.

Then Moses Revolution (with Anthony "Mose" Lewis) came on.

Conga line!

New Dimension Steel Orchestra finished the day.

The music was really good and it was a fun time.  Alas, there is only one more week.
