The club is noted as being the first North American team to play in the Rugby Football League system, the first fully professional rugby league team in Canada and the world's first transatlantic rugby league team. Their home stadium is Lamport Stadium (aka "The Den"), which is just a couple blocks from where Gord and I live.
Today the Wolfpack (17 wins/1 loss) were playing the Toulouse Olympique ... the last time they played, Toulouse had won.
It was sunny and warm (24C).
Here are Gord and I ...
Gordo was out and about ...
The Wolfpack Dance Squad ...
Then they entertained.
The team flags ...
It was Beach Day at Lamport Stadium and Jefferson, the Wolfpack mascot, was decked out.
Here come the Wolfpack players ...
The God Save the Queen and O Canada were sung ...
And the game began ...
Alas, no streetcars were hit |
At the end of the first half, the Wolfpack were winning 18 - 6.
The attendance at today's game was 7,742.
The Wolfpack Dance Squad entertained during the break in addition to others.
In keeping with the beach day theme, big beach balls were batted around.
And then the second half began ...
The Wolfpack won 28 - 16. Yay!
As usual, the beer garden is a popular place during and after the game.
