Staycation Sunday, Colborne Lodge, High Park, Toronto

This afternoon I attended the first Staycation Sunday at Colborne Lodge in High Park.  It was from 12pm to 5pm and I got there right at noon.  Staycation Sunday is happening every Sunday until August 25 and it's free.

On Sundays this summer, bring a picnic blanket and visit Colborne Lodge to enjoy a variety of free activities including informal music performances, dance, outdoor games and art activities as well as mini-garden and outdoor history tours! Mix your own shrub (a traditional summer fruit drink), learn to play croquet on the lawn or bring your own board games to play in the shade.

John George Howard, an architect, engineer, and prominent Toronto citizen built Colborne Lodge in 1836, which became the property of the city following his death in 1890.  It's now a museum.

The HMCS York Brass Quintet performed on the veranda a couple times.  They played for about 45 minutes songs including Amazing Grace.  It was a lovely way to spend some time and I would recommend it.

I thought this woman was a bit ironic ... dressed in garb from many many years ago yet using a cell phone.
