Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, Half-Marathon & 5k, Toronto, ON

Today is the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, Half-Marathon & 5k.  It is the 30th edition and attracted more than 26,000 runners from more than 72 countries.

I'm not a runner so I'd signed up to walk the 5km.  I've done lots of 5km walks on my own and in charity walks/runs and this is my second year doing this one.  I'm doing it in the Charity Challenge in support of the Annex Cat Rescue, who I volunteer with.

The 5km route was east along Lakeshore Blvd. and then north on Bay Street to City Hall.

The 5km started on Lakeshore Blvd., just west of Ontario Place and I walked there (about 2.5km) and left home about 7am.

Some of the Annex Cat Rescue volunteers who were doing the 5km met for a picture first with our ACR toques.

Then I headed to the starting line.

There were different "corrals" ... the fastest corral started first at 8am.

I was in the "green" corral so got in place.  We made our way up to the front and started at 8:15pm.

And we were off!

The first km point
There was lots of support along the way
The 2km point
There were hydration stations along the way
The 3km point

As soon as we crossed the finish line, we received our medals.

We were given a goody bag of snacks (banana, brownie, yogurts, etc.)

There were some photo ops ... I passed on all but one as the lines were long.

Whoohoo!

There were vendors providing coffee, juice, yogurt, etc.

My finish time was 1 hour, 1 minute, 1 second ... I would have gotten in sooner but I stopped to take pictures along the way.

It was fun and I look forward to doing it again next year!
