Book ~ "Death on Tap" (2017) Ellie Alexander

From Goodreads ~ When Sloan Krause walks in on her husband, Mac, screwing the barmaid, she gives him the boot. Sloan has spent her life in Leavenworth, Washington, becoming an expert in brewing craft beer and she doesn’t have time to be held back by her soon-to-be ex-husband. She decides to strike out on her own, breaking away from the Krause family brewery, and goes to work for Nitro, the hip new nano-brewery in the Bavarian-themed town. Nitro’s owner, brewmaster Garrett Strong, has the brew-world abuzz with his newest recipe, “Pucker-Up IPA.” This place is the new cool place in town and Mac can’t help but be green with envy at their success.

But just as Sloan is settling in to her new gig, she finds one of Nitro’s competitors dead in the fermenting tub. When Mac is arrested, Sloan knows that her ex might be a cheater, but a murderer? No way. Danger is brewing in Beervaria and suddenly Sloan is on the case.

I like beer and I like mysteries so that's why this series has caught my eye.

Sloan recently discovered her husband, Mac, cheating.  She was working for his family's brewery and got another job working with Garrett in his microbrewery/pub, Nitro.  She's still close to her in-laws.  Sloan is enjoying working with Garrett in his smaller business and because since it's new, it gives her a more hands-on opportunity to create interesting craft beers.

Then Sloan finds Eddie, a brewmaster with one of the other brewpubs in town, dead in their fermenter.  There are a few people who could have killed Eddie ... he had been fighting recently with his partner, some former flames aren't on good terms with him, both Mac and Garrett might have wanted to get rid of a competitor, etc.  And while all this is going on, Mac is trying to win Sloan back and promising he will never cheat on her again and she is questioning why she had stayed with him so long.

This is the first in the Sloan Krause Series by this author and I liked it.  I'd read the second and third ones recently.  It's written in first person perspective in Sloan's voice.  There is a lot of talk about beer (which I found interesting).  It was a quick light read and is a "cozy mystery" so there is no swearing, violence or adult activity.  I look forward to reading others in this series.
